There are three key points I stress to individuals who are job hunting:
- Do not follow the money. Money will come when you are excited to get up and go to work every morning. Money does not buy happiness, so focus on what makes you passionate when hunting for a new job or career.
- Dream big. Look in the mirror and you will see your own worst enemy. Instead of doubting yourself or your abilities, I encourage you to go after your dreams. It will be scary at times, but the risk is well worth it.
- Have an action plan. Let me help you with this! On April 12th I am having a webinar teaching my proactive job hunting methodology. I do not believe in relying on recruiters or career hunting websites (indeed.com, monster.com) to find a job that fulfills you. However, others find this form of job hunting helps them find a very satisfactory career. Sites like LeoList are good for this, with the opportunity to find job advertisements and also post them as an employer.
As you incorporate these three tips into your job hunting process, you will find yourself happier, healthier, and more passionate for work.
